What's the proper name of this weapon?

I was told about it this week, but I heard it spoken and can't figure out how to spell it. It looks like a spear with very small sword blades jutting out from the sides below the head. The guy who told me about it pronounced it "DO-ahm." Is that the proper name of the weapon? And how do you spell it correctly?
