  1. It depends on why you want to leave. Is there a reason not to tell the truth?

You could say: I know you're going to have a hard time managing without me, but from next month you're going to have to try.

  2. It totally depends on your reason for leaving. If it is to accept another offer someplace else or because of inadequate working conditions, be honest but polite. Employers will be more inclined to give you a good reference if you are honest and forthcoming. No one likes to disappoint anyone or be disappointed, but if you are leaving to better your own personal situation...then that is your choice and you should have every right to say "I've been offered an opportunity that I just can not pass up". Good luck with your new endeavor.

  3. The best statement that I always use is:

I am inclined presently to explore other professional endeavors.

  4. First, tell them that you have appreciated them giving you the opportunity to work with them, but -(if you have another job lined up)- I have come across another opportunity that might benefit me a little more.  Always give at least a 2 week notice in writing before leaving a job.

  5. Simply state that you have found an alternative job that more suits your needs - tell them you've enjoyed the experience, thank them and be on your way...
