    But if you are only asking about your textbooks, then I'd say "Keep them as neat and presentable as YOU are" - because the condition in which one's books are in can tell a lot about their owner's character and temperament !


  2. Depends on which books.

    Kamasutra may have pictures that are so erotic you need to keep them away from children, so, like books should be out of their reach, and hidden away ....  more often than not ...  inside the mattresses, and no matter how we try to keep it neat and tidy, the things gets creasy and dirty.   Well, it is a dirty book!

    Also, books of accounts are sometimes kept so messy and  so complicated, by intent.   To keep auditors wishing they'd never look at it!
