I bought a stick of bamboo the other day, and a jar for it. I can't undestand the instructions becuase it's in a foreign language. How can I care for the stick? It's about 2 feet tall.

1, How much water does one stick require?

2. How much sunlight does it require?

3. Anything special? Do's or don'ts?

4. Do I trim the leaves?

Thanks! (My stick of bamboo is grateful too.)

  1. Just fill the container to the top with water, distilled is preferred. If you don't have distilled let the water set in an open container to let the fluoride and bleach dissipate.

Don't put it in the sun, bright light is ok, but I have mine in the bathroom with no windows and it is doing fine.

You didn't mention marbles, I use marbles to secure the plant and to keep it up right. You can also plant it in soil, If you do keep it moist.

You don't have to trim the leaves, but if they get brown tips you can trim them off. If you use distilled water, that shouldn't be necessary.

One more thing you can cut it into sections.

Make a clean cut through the stalk, seal the top end with some wax. Place the cutting in fresh, clean water with some rooting hormone (use directions on rooting hormone package). Refresh this mixture at least once a week.

Here are what the number of  stalks represents.

    3 stalks = attracts happiness

    5 stalks = attracts wealth

7 stalks = result in good health

Just in case I forgot anything here is my favorite link.
