What's the proper way to cook sauerkraut with potatoes?

Question

I have two fair sized potatoes, and 1 ( 32 oz/ 2 lb ) jar of sauerkraut. Most people mix brats or sausages in with sauerkraut & potatoes, but I just want to cook sauerkraut and potatoes together! My questions are...

do I drain the sauerkraut? do I cook it before mixing it with the potatoes?

do I boil the potatoes first before mixing them with the sauerkraut? OR do I just dump the sauerkraut into the pot with the (unboiled, cleaned, cut up) potatoes...?

I know this may seem confusing--I'm sorry! If someone could give me some advice that'd be great, thanks. :)

if its sauerkraut from the bag there's no need to drain. just put some oil in the pan.  add some finely sliced onions in it, salt and pepper to taste, add potatoes and keep frying(cooked ones will have the flavor on the outside only but cook faster, the raw clean ones will absorb more and take a little while longer to cook) and sauerkraut into pan , stir slowly. serve hot.** if its sauerkraut from the can drain.**

cook potatoes. drain. add sauerkraut with little juice

warm together and eat

SAUERKRAUT WITH POTATOES  

1 (1 lb.) can sauerkraut, drained, reserving liquid or fresh sauerkraut, cooked about 40 min.

6 potatoes, peeled & boiled (can use leftover mashed potatoes & gravy)

Milk

Smoked sausage, precooked

3 tbsp. butter

Gravy

Mash sauerkraut and potatoes together with some reserved liquids from sauerkraut or with milk. Place in greased 1 1/2 quart casserole. Top with sausage links and dot with butter. Bake 20 minutes in 350 degree oven. Serve with gravy.

Drain and rinse the k***t then put it in a pan and add your peeled potato add water to make sure the potato is covered and put in a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar cover with a lid and cook untill potato is done drain it and add some margarine or butter.
