What's the quickest route to Rickmansworth from Milton Keynes?

I need to find a fairly speedy Train route to Rickmansworth from Milton Keynes AVOIDING London altogether. All the routes I find seem to want to go through London Marylebone regardless of where I get the train from.

I was hoping I could get off at either Watford station and go to Rickmansworth from there...

Please help...

Your stations are on different lines out of London. See map:

You could go to Watford junction, walk across Watford to the Met line tube, then go to Moor Park, then one stop back to Rickmansworth. But not speedy and as above a bus sounds a better option once at Watford.

The other option purely by rail is to go to Kenton, get off and walk to Northwick Park and get the met line.

However from MK you wil need to change to slower train at Watford or Harrow & Wealdstone

I suggest bus.

Hi, if you get off at Watford Junction station you can get a number of buses to rickmansworth, the 724 is the most direct as its the airport shuttle it runs half hourly, the 321 also runs that way and the mnumber 5 or 6, they are roughly every 15 mins.

I used to live near the junction but worked in Ricky so knew the buses quite well.
