  1. First do either a 500 warm up to start, then work up from their, if you have a lot of time, like two weeks then first do breast stroke like 5 !00s on some good time, then do just legs like a 200, then for free style, do 5 100s on 1:45 if you can make it or like 2:00 mins, keep pushing yourself and you will get used to it. Just do a lot of sets of breast stroke and freestyle, make sure to do a couple of 500s during your practice time, i suggest only freestyle though,, GOOD LUCK!

  2. I notice that when I run...it makes everything else I do a lot easier and improves my indurance in other things such as biking, or doing push ups and vice versa. Sometimes your body just needs a change. Do any cardiovascular exercise, and ofcourse...swim swim swim like u nver swam before. Goodluck in ur 400 yards. Oh also visualizing yourself doing it will actually help you do it. Whenever I can't run any more I just visualize myself running one more lap...your mind has to be into it too. It also helps visualizing before you swim, and telling your self its not that long. U can also emagine the person you hate the most...racing against them, or thinking that if you don't go all the way, something bad will happen...even though u know it won't. This always helps me.

  3. swim alot everyday

  4. it sounds like ur training for the lifeguarding test? correct

if u cant swim that much being a lifeguard probably isnt for u

  5. Swim everyday doing as many laps as possible.  Breathing exercises are extremely important.  Breath in and hold for 30 seconds...then let out all the air...and repeat 3 times. Do breathing exercises periodically throughout your practice. The two will build stamina and better lung function.  Try it, don't give up time will get you there. There's No quick fix...but this will help you get there the fastest.

    Have Fun..Good Luck.
