  1. Hello,

The train will be the fastest taking 4.5 hours.  There is no bullet train on this line yet as it makes numerous stops along the way.  The stops are very quick usually less than 5 minutes.  The ticket will cost 51 euros for 2nd class travel.  This train will take you right to the san lucia stop on the island itself and not the mestra stop that is just before the island.

If you want to fly you must take into consideration the 2 hours prior to the flight and then the transfer from the airport to the city itself.  This could easily take 5-6 hours and cost a lot more than 51 euros.

  2. Train -- 4 1/2 hours

When you say "something quicker" do you mean fly? it's possible, but expensive.

  3. the train in italy are very dirty and are always late(from 10 to 90 and more minuts).the train are very old, they are built in 1984,1984,1985.there are a littel of modern train and not anywhere.but if you want to go to venice from venice by train i counsel to take an intercity or eurostar.don't take regionale or interregionale!!more infohttp://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

  4. the train is your quickest route..just make sure you catch the non-stop train,  the amount of stops can really make a difference.  It's a really nice trip.

  5. i been in venice with ryanair

if you book in advance you can find a fly for 45 euro (return ticket! - train cost 50 euro one way) and with online ceck-in you don't have to stay 2 hours before in the airport

the fly is from Roma Ciampino, not the best, and arrive in Treviso (1 hour from Venice)

fly is cheapest and faster depends what do you prefer, but i think also in train is a nice trip
