What's the quickest way to transfer files from one computer to another?

only thing is i have one screen and a 2 gig usb. do i use the usb or is there a quicker way.

i want to move about 20 gig of files.

  1. Windows XP has a files and settings transfer wizard.  If both computers have an ethernet connection you can connect them together directly and transfer the date along the ethernet cable.


  2. external hard drive...

    there's a lot of them like 60gb, 80gb, 160gb..

    it's function the same as usb, only the storage is bigger.

    there's a chance it's going to be faster if your computer/laptop RAM is fast enough to transfer your files.

  3. If both computers have network cards you could pick up an RJ-45 Cross-over cable for about $8 and use the Windows built in utility for PC to PC file transfer.

    You could also use an external USB hard drive, which everyone should own for backing up their data. They cost around $100 and come with a USB cable and software.

    By the way, if it's music you're copying don't forget to backup the Licenses and restore them to the other computer. Otherwise, none of the copyrighted music will play.
