  1. Kia ora,

K Bear has the right idea, but if you need to catch a bus, then google "K Bus" ( K for Kaiteretere). They meet the ferry and take you direct to Tasman Bay.

  2. Car would be quickest - Picton to Nelson 1 1/2 hours, then Nelson to Kaiteriteri approx an hour.

Other option is bus or drive to Koromiko - 10 mins from Picton and catch a small plane from there to Nelson with Sounds Air.  I believe they have put on more flights recently.  http://www.soundsair.com or http://www.openjet.com/static.jsp?pageNa...

To be honest by the time you pay for the ferry from Wellington to Picton then travel onto (through) Nelson it's WAY cheaper to catch a plane from Wellington to Nelson - generally you can get $39 flights.  If you haven't already booked check in with this site each day - specials are updated 2-3 times a day. http://www.grabaseat.co.nz

Edit - If you take a bus from Picton you will have to change over in Nelson then take the Abel Tasman Coaches (bus) to Abel Tasman NP.

  3. Hire a car from Picton . The scenery is beautiful . That way you can drive around Queens Charlotte sounds. You could get a motel in Picton for the night then pick your hire car up in the morning and be fresh to drive to Kaiteriteri. It would be a shame to drive there feeling a bit tired and not enjoy the beautiful scenery.
