The "OFFICIAL STORY" from Omega official seems to be that even though Cavic touched first, "he didn't touch hard enough with first touch".
The Omega official timer Silvio Chianese says that it requires a lot of force to set off the touch pad or else waves would set off the sensor if it required less force.
At least this official explaination makes more sense than the stupid idea that Phelps touched first.
What do you think the real reason is?
BTW, to all the idiots who said touchpads don't lie, even the OFFICIAL OMEGA TIMEKEEPER says they lie unless you hit them hard.

Chianese explained that it requires 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of pressure to activate the touchpad.
"Any less and waves would set it off," Chianese said. "You can't just put your fingertips on the pad, you really have to push it. We explained all this directly after the race to (Cavic) and his coach."
