  1. A biome is a climatically and geographically defined area of ecologically similar communities of plants, animals, and soil organisms.

A biogeographical region is an area of the Earth determined by distribution of flora and fauna.

Some sources say that a biogeographical region contains several biomes. Other sources say that biomes and biogeographical regions are the same thing. Take your pick.

The biosphere is the part of the Earth, including air, land, surface rocks, and water, within which life occurs. There is one and only one biosphere, which contains all possible biomes and biogeographical regions.
