The Doppler effect was tested using some guys blaring trumpets on a train speeding by with a listener standing by the tracks .. and vice versa with the trumpeters standing by the side of the tracks and the train speeding by with the listener on the train. As the train approaches, the sound of its horns are heard at a high pitch and as the train moved away, the sound of the horns are heard at a low pitch.
