  1. Rain washes many pollutants into the creeks and storm drains that flow to the Bay, including motor oil and other car fluids from the streets, pesticides from farms and yards, construction materials, trash and more.  All of these can harm plant and animal life.

    Also, the rain carries pollutants from the air directly into the Bay, including toxic metals and chemical compounds from auto exhaust, factory emissions and wood-burning smoke --  air pollution turned into water pollution.
