Yesterday Carlos Delgado when 5-5, but his last "hit" was ball lost by Omar Infante in left field. The ball actually touched Infante's glove. Why is it scored a hit instead of an error?

  1. tht play i guess the scorekeeper thot it was a tough play anyway so they just gave it to delgado

  2. Well, the ball wasnt really lost it was played wrong. But, i dont know why they didnt count it as an error.

  3. The scorekeeper decides that.

  4. I think that was an error but a fan cant change the umps call

  5. It was the decision of the official scorekeeper. He decides whether it's a hit or an error.

  6. The scorekeeper gets to decide.  They usually call it a hit if it appears that the fielder lost it in the sun or the lights.

Sometimes after games the official scorekeeper will go down to ask the players what they think it should be, and if the player says it was an error instead of a hit, they'll sometimes change the official ruling.

    Hope I helped!

  7. its all on judgement.  Personally, i think (and its gotten really bad this year) that too many hits arent hits.  Ive seen balls go under an infielders glove on a routine grounder, but its scored as a hit, i thought this was the major leagues?  I thought they were the best in the world?  Why are these being counted as hits and is it really fair for the pitcher when that baserunner is now a potential earned run, rather than unearned.

Usually, if it hits the glove its an error, if it doesnt then its a hit, so its a little rediculous to score that a hit if it was just a popup.

  8. That was a terrible decision by the official scorer. Calling that a hit is a joke. Homerism at its best.

  9. It is the decision of the official scorekeeper. And they tend to give hits to their home team more often than not.
