  1. Well its nothing like the US where you have to tip everything that moves.

    Basically you tip 10% in restaurants, taxis, and hairdressers and that is it.

    If someone at a hotel carries your bags to your room tip 50p - a pound a bag if you are feeling generous.

    In restuarants, if a 'service' charge is added to the final bill, then tip no more. If not, 10% of total. (I know its 20% in the US, but that's on the pre-tax price. UK prices include 17.5% tax already, plus the payment of waiting staff is quite different than the US). And you'll notice the service in most places is useless, but if you get really perfect service, feel free to go up to 15%.

    But please don't come here spraying huge tips to everyone because you just spoil it for the locals.
