The flagstick is laying flat on the green, blown down by the wind. I hit to the green and my ball is channeled into the hole by the flagstick. What's the ruling?

  1. You would count it..  You are off the green so hitting the flag is not a penatly.  If you were on the green it would be.. it is the same as a golf ball the green.

  2. sorry the rules make you responsible for the flag even if it was thown in the path of your ball 2strokes

  3. There is no penalty. Score the basket!

In the link below, look at decision 17-3/3. It mentions a ball hitting the flag after the wind blew the flag down. It specifically states that the rule only applies when the flag was removed with your authority by someone in your group, so there is no penalty.

The flagstick is a movable obstruction. It's the same as if your ball hit and empty beer can and bounced onto the green. You play it as it lies. In this case, it's in the hole.

  4. simple it don't count that is the rule

  5. It counts if the wind knocked it down.  But if somebody in your group did it is a two stroke penalty for them.

  6. The flagstick that was "blown out by the wind" becomes an outside agency and this becomes a "rub of the green" and the ball is holed.

  7. I am being smart here, but I have never heard of "wind" blowing the flag stick out of the hole...maybe that someone from group in front did not p[ut it back sounds more like it...and why are you playing golf in hurricane weather anyway...come to California desert and play great golf courses..
