  1. II live in Carlton just off Lygon St ..i love it not had any probs here or kew but was in Frankston for a year oh my God 6 dealers across the road and we were not in bad part of Frankston run throughs fights ripoff retrubution etc

  2. Melbourne is probably the safest, truly free city of its size in the world.

The Russell Street Police Station has been closed for decades, since the car bomb (about the only one we've had) - someone above is a wag (or an idiot).

    Reputation is everything.

As an old Broady boy (40 years ago) I am disgusted by those of you naming it.  In the dozen years I lived there, it had the reputation of being the roughest area in Melbourne, especially around Smiley Road/Central Grove.  I lived one house from Smiley Rd and a blck from Central Grove.  It was all fictional hearsay.  We were all poor simple working class kids.

Frankston now has the reputation. ha. Believe what you will.  I can build a case against any suburb if I put my mind to it.

In any case, you live where you can afford - that really is the only way.

  3. Melbourne is very safe. The southern, south eastern and eastern suburbs are the safest.

  4. The 'leafy' eastern suburbs.  It is a pretty safe city generally.  Avoid the King Street nightclub area late at night when the drunks stumble out.

  5. I'll name a few areas not to live in Collingwood, Prahan, St. Kilda, Reservoir (reservoir is the worst place I've ever lived it's unbelievable, I had somebody break into my house while i was living there) , Preston, Glenroy and Broadmeadows.

  6. In a bomb shelter, deep in the ground with a big thick door. No just kidding, Melbourne as a whole is very safe. The only suburbs with a bad name, more based on reputation than actual events, are Frankston, Broadmeadows and some of the Western Suburbs but even still there are still lots of families living happily and safely there.

  7. Probably  near the Russell Street Police station.

  8. Eastern suburbs.

Alot of families live there because its safe.

Its gone up alot in price though.
