  1. My daughter-in-law and her sister are owners of a multi-line agency. They have one office manager, and two CSR's.

The office manager gets paid $40,000, and the CSR's earn $25,000. In addition, they all share in bonuses that the agency as a whole earns. They all are licensed agents.

A CSR in a life and health agency is not required to be licensed. But a CSR in a property/casualty or multi-line agency must be licensed to transact business. This is due to the risk of transacting business, and possibly making an error or omission, with a client who has bought a property or casualty type policy from the agency. Whatever a CSR or agent does is binding on the insurance company, when it comes to p/c business.

  2. Depends on where you are, if you have a license, your experience, and what you do.  It could be anywhere from $15,000 a year to $80,000.
