  1. I agree, it's all about having enough horsepower to be able to gain enough speed from a complete stop in order to get the boarder out of the water. Even some jet skis can tow tubes, skiers and boarders. Less horsepower will be required to pull a tube since you don't have to pull it out of the water.

  2. I was thinking of this question for a lil bit--I was under the impression you can wakeboard behind anything that has enough horsepower to tow you and throw a decent wake? Would the length of the boat come into play? Maybe..Im not a wakeboarder but do own a boat. Ive seen guys ski and wakeboard behind boats 17-18 feet in length, the motor would need enough horsepower and the right pitch prop to pull you out of the water and haul you around the lake! Dont forget, you should add the LOAD in the boat into this problem too--Ive seen some folks stack 9 people in the boat and expect to haul *** with a skier in the water-its a let down to say the least.

    Hope that helps!

  3. In NY the tow boat has to have room for a spotter and room for the person being towed should something happen and they need to be removed from the water. So, a 3 person PWC or larger.

  4. I wouldn't go under 14 ft. you need a decent power to weight Ratio for Skiing, but kneebording is not so important, you could Probably knee board behind a 12 ft boat with a 10 hp motor
