I'm going ski in Japan - Hakuba at the end of December this year. Does anyone know what the climate is like during that time of the year? I want to know which types of lens to get with my Oakley snow goggles.

  1. It's hard to say - it's day to day, sometimes hour to hour.

It might be a blizzard one day, and nice and sunny the next day.  It is usually less sunny than say, March, but it really does vary.

In recent years sometimes there's hardly any snow in December.  I went on the 20th, and some lifts were closed because of the snow shortage...

  3. The end of December is when the snow starts to fall.  The weather is could change day to day.  A nice dump of snow on one day and halfway through the next the sun starts to peer out.  I would suggest to get the lighter tinted lenses since the elevations of the mountains are not so high, so on the sunny days the intensity of the sun is not so high. Thus you would not need the iridium lenses.  WIth the lighter lenses you can wear your goggles on the snowy and windy days.  Even on the sunny days, the air is cold so I usually wear my goggles to help protect from the wind and cold air.
