  1. The front steps ;-)

  2. A geographer really doesn't build buildings, an architecture will design and then hire a contractor to build it.

But, that's neither here nor there. Here are the steps for building a building - in this case a house.

    Grading and site preparation

    Foundation construction

    Framing

    Installation of windows and doors

    Roofing

    Siding

    Rough electrical

    Rough plumbing

    Rough HVAC

    Insulation

    Drywall

    Underlayment

    Trim

    Painting

    Finish electrical

Bathroom and kitchen counters and cabinets

    Finish plumbing

    Carpet and flooring

    Finish HVAC

Hookup to water main, or well drilling

Hookup to sewer or installation of a septic system

Punch list (the builder inspects the house, noting any problems. All problems are tabulated on a punch list.)

Many of the above steps are done by sub-contractors. The contractors hires sub-contractors who are specialists in their fields to complete the various specialist steps ( roofing, framing, brick laying, dry wall experts etc )
