  1. When we went to Taronga Zoo in Sydney There was a slice of turnip on the hamburgers. Not THAT strange, but it was the most unusual thing that I ate.

We stayed away from the vegemite. We bought a jar and brought it home with us, but we still haven't opened it yet and it's been almost a year since we went.  ;)

  2. Meat and three veg

  3. Kangaroo & Crocodile.....

  4. I went to a Bush Tucker Restaurant that had a dish on the menu with the rather off-putting name of "The Coat of Arms" It was Kangaroo and Emu on the same plate! I ordered it and tried to eat it, but couldn't finish it. Just too weird for me :)

  5. I had a Moreton Bay Bug a few years back that was a bit unusual for this Yankee.  While it was okay, I found it to taste muddy, and it certainly was not the cutest crustacean.  We had it at a place just north of Brisbane.   I had another dining experience in Australia that was the finest meal I have ever eaten.  We were on the southern coast, and stopped at a place in Nelson (The Black Wattle- it has since closed...)  We had Cray with all the trimmings- fruit, veggies, salad, cheese plate, and a couple bottles of South Australian wines.  Truly a meal to remember.  Then there was a pub dinner we had west of Toowomba.  Don't recall the name of the town.  Beef, boiled veggies, pumpkin soup and lots of beer.  Not a bad dinner.  Love Australian food!
