What's the suitability of sandstone, limestone, and shale as aquifers for supplying human water needs?

  1. Limestones may have great permeability and are suitable.  Sandstones tend to be filled with calcite as a cement and are often not permeable.  Shales are fine grained and lack porosity and permeability and are generally not suitable.


  2. Well, limestone dissolves in water so probably not so suitable.  Shale usually indicates the presence (or possibility) of oil so maybe not.  Sandstone sounds like a good bet, to me.
