  1. Blackrock, Co. Cork and the whole of Ireland are in the time zone GMT (Greenwich Mean Time, also known as zero time). If you live *west* of Ireland, such as North America, then Ireland's day starts earlier. For example, if you're in New York (GMT -5), you *add* 5 to find out the time in Ireland [say it's 08:30 in NY, then we're having lunch at 13:30/1.30pm].

If you live *east* of Ireland such as Singapore (GMT +8), then you *subtract* 8 to find out Ireland time. Thus you're drinking your coffee in Singapore at 15:30 (3.30pm) while we're eating our pop tarts for breakfast at 07:30.

Twice a year GMT switches by an hour to allow for sumer or winter time; this happens on the last Sunday in October and reverts back on the last Sunday in March. This year our clocks go back one hour on Sunday October 28 October 2007 at 02:00 (2am). They will go forward again on 30 March 2008.

Hope this makes sense - it's a question that confuses an awful lot of people! If you want to see pictures of Co. Cork, please click around my site below!
