  1. I'm a 20% er across the board or more, but always tip people in the service industry, even if it is the vallet...

  2. Yes, you should tip the person who prepared your to-go order.

  3. It really is a matter of choice. If you go to a place often & they treat you well or special by all means you should tip according to your your satisfaction.  At most places the person that you pick up the order from is generally the one who puts it together for you. It is a special service which in my opinion warrants a tip.  Even if it is small it is always appreciated.  Of course there is always an exception to the rule.

  4. Find out if the person who got your order for you is an hourly employee or if they are tipped (meaning they make less than minimum wage and rely on tips to make their $$)

If they are a TIPPED employee - then PLEASE tip them because that's how they make thei money - I know I used to be a server for over 3 yrs and only made $2.13 an hour PLUS tips.

To figure out the correct tip amount - " Generally, the tip should be at least 10 percent for average service and at least 15 percent for excellent service. The tip amount is figured out by using the pretax total of your bill. "

  5. it depends, if you go and place the order, you can leave a dollar  or just your change, but when the pizza delivery person comes to my house i give 2 bucks, i think that's fare, but i did have a delivery man hand it back to me one time i guess he thought i was cheep, lol  but what the heck  should he expect he only drove it to my house.  so more money in my pocket

  6. I usually go with about 5%

  7. When I get takeout from a restaurant, I usually walk in and get the food, therefore I do not tip the person.  But, at Applebees where they insist on bringing the food out, I tip the person bringing it out (5-10%), but it's not as much as I would if I was sitting in the restaurant and had an actual waitress getting my food/drinks (15-20%).

  8. I'm a waitress and I SERVE you when I put your order together, condiments, check the food to make sure the order is right, napkins, utensils, drinks, bagging it.  Yes, I do expect a tip, not as much as if you were to sit at a table, but a dollar or two.

I am taking time away from my TIPPING tables to get your order together.

So does that mean I should worry about getting a bigger tip from my tables, and making you wait?

Definately tip a dollar or two, depending on how big the order is!

  9. I was in the food industry for 15 years and no...you do not have to tip on a to go order...it's not really expected...but if you do, that's always nice.  If you get a drink while you are waiting for the food order, well then that's a different story, be sure to always tip the bartender :)

  10. If you are going into a restaurant to place an order and taking it out, I don't think tipping is necessary. Tipping is given to the waiters/waitresses for their service, and since you are not being served, you shouldn't have to tip anyone. I'm not even sure who the tips would go to in this case.

  11. that's something i have wondered about, also.  a friend of mine used to work at outback and i know that she got paid a regular rate and not a server rate so I didn't think I had to, unless there was exceptional service
