  1. A messed up stomach

  2. A TV in the bedroom.

  3. you can't really "prepare" for it lol, it just, happens

  4. Thanks for the support :) Part of preparing for surgery is preparing for negative babble from those who have not walked in my shoes. You are right, this is NOT an easy way out, and the route to goal is just as hard as for those who have not had the surgery. I am just as tempted as the non-op...but I can't act on my temptations without becoming physically ill. Anyway...I digress.

My advise...be ready. Don't have "I guess" in your head when someone says, "Are you ready?" I was sooooo ready when I decided to have the surgery. I pondered the thought for years before finally asking my doc for a referral.

I figured I was going to die of something else, weight related, if I did not have the surgery. That is the factor that turned me to the best decision I ever made. I was willing to sacrifice the life I was going to lose anyway. I, thank God, have had no complications from the surgery.

Be prepared to say "Good bye" to the favorites, and take a nice long time (6 months?) to have an occasional piece or dish of your favorite food or snack that you know you will not be able to eat after the surgery. High-fat and sugary foods will make the post-op person physically ill. I am very glad I went to my favorite restaurant the day before I began my pre-op liquid diet. It was a happy, fond farewell.

Beyond that, thus far, I miss nothing.

  5. make sure you follow the diet they give you afterward. I've seen too many people stretch their stomach right back out and have complications because they don't follow the diet

  6. I know someone who had it done.

You will have to be very careful if you ever drink alcohol.

She became severely anemic, has to continue to get blood transfusions, has to take large amounts of iron and it turned her teeth black, her hair has thinned out a lot and its starting to look creepy and she is still young.

Hey, but at least she is skinny now.

  7. ya..DONT.

i work in a hospital and i've seen nothing but issues and complications after having this..sometimes even years after.

if you want to lose weight and not do it the right way and actually work at, and not be a lazy fat azz that got u fat to begin with...try lipo..much safer than bypass
