What's the true difference between an Australian and English accent?

Isn't it that australian's use their r's more, and they have more slang?

or is there much more to it?

please explain, if you could?

  2. I think the Australian accent is more a drawl than English English

    which always seems more clipped sounding to me.

  3. It wider in the mouth (like they are smiling when they talk).

    They do have some rhyming slang, but so do the Brits and Irish.

    To exaggerate an example, and Aussie would say "Might" for the word "Mate."

    Brits, compare to the Aussies, close their mouths more when speaking.  They pronounce their word ending "T"s very crisply, especially compared with American pronounced "D".
