  1. Look, dear sis, u shouldn't follow what people say. We have to follow the guidance from the Quran and the Sunnah of Muhammad (P.B.U.H), who is our role model. Only what Allah and His Prophet (P.B.U.H) hold right is to be followed. This can be gotten from the Quran and the authentic Hadiths.

Muslims (as a majority) consider 6 hadith books to be authentic (the hadiths in them came directly from our Prophet P.B.U.H).

    1. Sahih Bukhari

    2.Sahih Muslim

    3.Sunan Ibn Majah

    4. Abu Dawood

    5. Nisai

    6. Tirmidhi

So, if anybody tells u what should be done or what should not be done, ask for proof from the Quran or Sunnah. Ask them to give u a reference. If it comes from the above mentioned books, or from the Quran, take it. If not, reject it. Don't go for people's opinions.

I have noticed that brother Abul Harith has answered that question of yours. He almost always has some proof from the Quran or Sunnah for whatever opinion he expresses. So, I always have the confidence to trust his answers.

    May Allah bless u. (Ameen)

  4. Islam (Arabic: الإسلام; al-'islām (help·info); pronounced: [ɪs.ˈlæːm]) is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion originating with the teachings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, a seventh century Arab religious and political figure. The word Islam means "submission", or the total surrender of oneself to God (Arabic: الله, Allāh).[1] An adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim, meaning "one who submits [to God]".[2][3] There are between 1 billion and 1.8 billion Muslims, making Islam the second-largest religion in the world, after Christianity.[4]

Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, God's final prophet, and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam.[5] They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Jews and Christians distorted the revelations God gave to these prophets by either altering the text, introducing a false interpretation, or both.[6]
