I don't know about in the US, but in the UK the bookies take million pound bets.

It's going to be Cheltenham Horseracing festival in a few weeks time over here. There will be £million bets on horses.

South Pointe Casino was accepting bets up to $1,000,000 on the Super Bowl, and they aren't even a big place. I'm sure bigger casinos would take a $1,000,000 bet on many events.

It depends on lots things, are you up or down with the book, what action is on the game, and the line offered e.g. I would accept a $400,000 wager on The US to win the next cricket world cup !

It depends on the risk factor, ie the chance it has of winning and for ante-post bets, the likelihood for it going ahead, so betting on 2010's Grand National winner may be a little premature. There are many factors and depending on your profit history will affect their decision to acccept your bet
