  1. I know Civitavecchia quite well, it’s the nearest commercial harbour to Rome, where all the boat ferries to the islands dock in.  It has all the characteristics of a  Port town, but I wouldn’t term it as “ugly”, I’ve seen far worse. The end of October and beginning of November is not really cold, by European standards, it can however, be rainy, so take your Mac., and buy a collapsible umbrella locally. For the wedding I’d wear  half season clothes, nothing warm, but nothing light either. North and South of Civitavecchia there are lot’s of really nice places, like Santa Marinella, where my son Mark lives. Besides, Italian weddings can be quite an event. After that try and pass as much time as you can in Rome, it's an ideal season for tourists .

  2. wow, it's one of the ugliest town in Italy. Good for you...in any case, November is cool.
