What's the weather like in Italy in May?

I'm traveling to Italy in May and I was curious what the weather is like around that time.

May is the month of roses, in Italy, with weather that is warm but not too hot for sightseeing. The major sights are crowded - not only with visitors from abroad but also with Italian schoolchildren, as schools often organize trips at this time of year.

Absolute best time of the year to visit Italy. Not too hot, not too cold. Sunny and beautiful, and not as crowded with tourists.
