What's the weather like in Marburg, Hessen, Germany?

Only answer this question if you actually know. I'll be spending September through January in Marburg and need to know what I should pack. Will I need longer pants for september or will it still be pretty warm? I understand that it can get very cold in the winter, but how cold is cold? I'd like as much detail as you can give, thanks.

I'm not living in Marburg, but I guess the weather there is quite the same as it is here near Frankfurt a.M. (about 100 km away from Marburg), so I'll tell you what the weather's like here.

September usually is around 30°C and mostly sunny, and October is quite warm, too, around 20°C. In November and December it rains more often and it's a lot colder, 10°C and less, though hardly less than 0°C. In January, there can be snow, and the temperature may be around -10°C (but usually won't be for a longer time).

The weather in Frankfurt and Marburg is mostly the same, but always a bit colder (I'd say up to 10 degrees). My parents live quite close to Frankfurt, while I live in Marburg and I visit them every weekend, so I guess I can judge that pretty well.

You should expect an average of 15°C in September, 10°C in October and something from 5° to -5°C in November, December and January, always with a few nice and sunny days in between.

There'll probably be quite a bit of rain and in December/January snow. Marburg can also be very foggy, the London of Hessen some tend to say. ;)

But however nice Marburg is (and it really is a nice place with many things to do and see), you just *have* to travel. While Germany is right in the middle of Europe, Hessen is in the middle of Germany, that's a huge advantage for you to travel around and see as much as you can.

So you'll probably need lighter clothes for the warmer south and warmer things for the colder weather up north anyway.
