What's the weather like in Palawan, jan/feb?

I've heard somewhere that january and february are in the middle of the rain season in Palawan. Is this true? And if so, are these occasional heavy showers or is it raining all day? Is there still sunshine, and how's the visibility and 'swim-ability' of the water?

I've been in Bako, Borneo during the rain season, and the water was not right for swimming. Because of the season there where many jellyfish and catfish and they said it was just to dangerous to go in.

Now, in january/february 2009 I will be in the Philippines. I would love to visit Palawan. What can I expect?

  1. Rainy season here in the Philippines starts as early as June to December. On some occasions, it extends to December. I was there March and early June. Fortunately for me it was warm and it was nice to go to the beach. During the months of Feb-May it is very hot although there are some instances of minor rain showers; not enough to spoil you summer.

  2. palawan (like mindoro, western parts of luzon, panay & negr0s) has type 1 climate - they all have pronounced seasons - dry from december to may and wet for the rest of the year.  the timing of your visit is excellent. enjoy!
