I am aware it's hurricane season... is it bad??

This is the hottest time of year. There is always the risk of hurricanes, but even if there were one, as a holidaymaker you would be well cared for. Some hurricanes are nothing more than heavy storms and you would hardly remember them afterwards when they have passed. Why don't you just make up your mind to take advantage of the cheap prices and lack of crowds and go?

The weather is beautiful right now -- in the high 20s C all week. Only a little rain is in the forecast.

That said, August historically is quite a rainy month for St. Lucia compared even to other Caribbean destinations. Fortunately, Tropical Storm Gustav has already passed through.

So if you can go right away, the odds are in your favor.
