Mine was that my gran told me never to stand under trees at night or sing at night or the jinns will get me. She also said that if the jinns get me, then they'll have to whip them out. I was like 'What???' LOL

And the funniest thing? She said that if you don't wear hijab all the time, then shaitan will urinate on your head. I used to feel my hair to make sure!!! LMAO!!

You tell me, what's the weirdest thing your parents have told you??

  2. When I was a Muslim my Mum use to tell never to refer to Jesus as the "Christ" which is alternative word for "Messiah" which Muslims believe Jesus was. She probably did not know the meaning of the word and probably thought it was a exclusively Christian belief that Jesus was the "Christ".

    am i your sister..???

  11. my grandad (god rest his soul) told me not to eat gum cause its haram and the jinn will come and kill me.. lol. :)

  12. There seem to be a lot of superstitions about Jinn and nighttime, lol.  Here is some of the facts that I have found...

    --------------------------------------...

Shaytan is most frequently present at nightfall. The prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) Peace and salutations be upon Him. has stated in a hadith “As night comes in and it is dusk, then keep your children in for Shaytan gather at that time. When an hour of the time goes by, then let them out. Close the doors and mention the name of Allah. Shaytan does not open a closed door.(Al Bukhari relates from Jabir Bin Abdullah.)

    --------------------------------------...

    Interesting enough.  Allah knows best!

  13. Don't put perfume at night & never stand under trees with open hair otherwise jinns will come & take over you.

  14. my dad says not to whistle and not to talk in the bathroom.  he also said there was a prayer in the quran that can let you see shaitan

  15. Every single thing you have shared with us about your gran telling you, my gran and elders told me the exact same things.

I hated it when my father told me I had to touch an elder's feet as a way of showing respect or doing salaam. Also that it wasn't compulsory to wear Hijaab in front of Non-mahram men that we knew, i.e. Our servants etc. It makes me so angry to think that we (siblings and I) were actually told that.

Oh yeah, and one doesn't have to wear jilbab or Burka until you're married or old. WHAT A LOAD OF BULL!!! Just goes to show, don't believe what you hear, find out the truth, research or ask for reference, where on earth do they get this stuff from.

  16. WaaaaOOO :) LOL this is the silliest thing I have ever heard in my entire life... Not only your story but also the stories in the answers...

Why would  a parent tell his kids such lies.. not only that; but also claims it is "Islamic"??!!

May allah forgive them for corrupting their children's minds about what is Islamic and what is totally superstitious  and also for being a reason other people call our religion a fairy tale!

  17. Lolz...the same was told to me about the supersticion of trees!

But my mom doesn't usually say anything to be un Islamic!

  18. that whistling attracts shaitaan. i dont know if it's true or not but they've told me that =]

  19. If you cut your nails at night you will attract jinns.

Don't cut nails on a Thursday night.

If you sit in a doorway, jinns will come.

There is a prayer in the Quran that can show you jinns.

Jinns hang around toilets and bad smells.

Don't stomp your feet, cos when you die the ground will crush you.

All I can think of right now.
