  4. A Marine was half a world away serving in Iraq when he learned that his eight-year-old son was shot by an off-duty cop. He wants to know why the investigation is taking so long, and why this officer hasn't been arrested in this apparent case of road rage.

Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Luis Silva was on his second tour of duty in Iraq when he got the gut-wrenching call about his son. He says he felt nervous and anxious during the three days it took him to get by the boy's bedside.

The wheels of justice can't turn fast enough for Luis Silva.

"It makes me wonder why, what's taking so long? It's been weeks now," he said.

He's referring to the Oceanside Police Department's investigation into last month's off-duty police officer shooting that wounded his eight-year-old son Johnny.

"I want it all to be done with - both my son's healing and the investigation and all the other proceedings. I want it all to be over with," he said.

In an unspecified damages claim filed against the City of San Diego, Luis Silva - on behalf of his son - alleges off-duty SDPD officer Franklin White cut off Silva's ex-wife Rachel in an apparent road rage incident March 15.

The dispute spilled over from Old Grove Road into a shopping center parking lot, where angry words were exchanged between White and Rachel Silva.

With Johnny Silva in the passenger seat, Officer White opened fire at her Honda sedan, hitting her twice in the right arm and striking the boy once in the left knee.

"Worst case scenario, the growth plate on his thigh was injured and one leg will be longer than the other. He'll have to have surgery on the other leg to fix that," Luis Silva said.

Officer White remains on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues, and as far as any comments for Officer White personally, Luis Silva had a curt response.

  5. miksha noted one pretty extreme.

    Houston, TX, 1960s.

A woman got cut off.  She chased the driver.

Rammed his car at a stop light.  Rammed him again and again, until she drove his car to the side of the road.

Then she rammed him into a drainage culvert.

I don't remember how long it took her to get out of jail.

  6. I remember reading about some mad vicar in Norfolk who snapped on a busy road and just wheelspun in circles until the tyres burned off to the rims.

Then when the police turned up, he climbed on top off his car roof and poked them with his umbrella for a bit.

THEN he got back in and tried to get away at 10 miles an hour with no back tyres!

NORFOLK IS FULL OF NUTCASES! : )

  8. Hmmm, let's see... there's the story of the trucker that mistakenly went into the "exact change" toll lane and found he didn't have exact change. The jackass behind him got so mad that he felt he had to shoot him.

Then, there was an older gentleman that got mad because he felt he was being tailgated. When the person got in front, the older man chased him down and threw his prescription medicine bottle at him. Hope he already had his refills...
