  1. I can't explain it here, it's still under investigation...

    Seriously, though...

I was driving with my family to take my son to the doctor and passed through a merger area for 2 highways.  This van pulled up alongside my vehicle, from behind and turned on his turn signal.  He kept looking over at us, according to my wife.  He never at any point was in front of our vehicle.  He eventually slowed down and pulled in behind us, then began gesturing at me.  I kept driving, with the flow of traffic.

I got off at the next exit and he followed us, turning whenever we turned.  I pulled into a building parking lot and sped around the building, then into an adjacent lot.  He must've thought we pulled back onto the roadway, because he went out onto the street and took off.

Satisfied he was gone, we went to the doctor's office on the road where he last saw us.  My son was seen by the doctor and we were leaving the office when I noticed our "friend" in the van driving by the office.  I mentioned to my wife to get in the car as calmly as possible, at which point, she started to run.  I grabbed her arm and told her to relax, he clearly wasn't looking for us in a parking lot.  When he'd gone up the street a couple hundred yards, I took off in the opposite direction and headed home, where I pulled into the garage and didn't drive that car for a couple days.

Needless to say, my son thought my outwitting this guy was the coolest thing he'd ever seen.  My wife held a different opinion, however....

No violence came out of it, but this guy clearly had issues, since we didn't do more than drive beside each other for a couple hundred feet.

  2. In 1992, I was blown away by a mother and her then toddler on I-95 near Rye, NY - she was going over 100+ and I don't think there was a medical emergency or anything else to justify such excessive speed.
