What's up with American Express?

Everyone takes it where I live (Los Angeles). Where are you from? It is possible that in smaller rural areas they are less accepted, but almost all large chains accept amex.

Credit card companies charge merchants a fee for each transaction.  It's a percentage of the amount charged.  American Express charges a high percentage - possibly the highest.  Fewer and fewer merchants now accept American Express.  It's pretty much a waste especially since you usually have to pay an annual fee.

Because it's c**p card..discover card is also same..don't you ever apply for those cards.in my area even gas station won't except it..
