What's up with Argentina not letting Uruguay progress? Any comments on "the war"???

  2. I do watch TV, and I am from Argentina. But I agree with Lau that there is no "war". There is though a difference over paper industries, basically because of money. Uruguay wants to set them up because that would give them more money, and Argentina doesn't want to, because that would take some money away from the similar competing companies that are in Argentina. They say that the governor of Entre Ríos even owns one.

    Besides, some people from Argentina are blocking one route to Uruguay, as a way to protest against the Uruguayan decision, because that would pollute even more the Uruguay River, over which this Argentinian town is settled, and it would make it impossible for them to go on living there. I think that if it is true that this is going to happen, these people's stand on this conflict is the only respectable one.

    So, there is an important dispute, yes. But there is nothing that even resembles a war.
