What's up with De La Hoya vs Cotto?

I'm just wondering why i never hear anything about them getting in the ring together. It's all ways somebody else, the fight is way over due if you ask me. De La Hoya all the way...

Oscar is supposed to fight three more times before hanging up the gloves.  Forbes is coming up.  Surely he has his sights on Mayweather.  I think that will likely take place in September.  What better fight to end his career with than fighting Miguel Cotto?

It's no doubt a huge draw -- Golden Boy and Cotto, PR vs. Mexico.  I think it'll be next Spring.  Win and he goes out on top.  Lose and he was beaten by world champion Miguel Cotto, beloved fighter from his wife's homeland and his adopted home.

Just like you, I am a fan of De La Hoya and I will be there at Carson when he faces Steve Forbes.  This fight Cotto-De La Hoya, will be nonstop toe to toe action. Even thought Cotto has a greater chance of winning, I believe Oscar has what it takes to defeat the strong Cotto. I will love to see this fight.

wont happen, the money will never be there for golden boy to pick up the fight before DLH retires.  Cotto isn't a big enough draw for DLH to bother with.  DLH will fight forbes, then mayweather....then i think his final fight will be some kind of rematch from his glory days for the huge PPV turnout.  i wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see DLH-Mosley or DLH-Trinidad in december.

There is talk of them two fighting one another at the end of the year or early next year. I know Oscar wants to fight him. Right now  oscar is fighting in may and cotto will be fighting in 2 weeks or so. Then after that Oscar is hoping to have his rematch with mayweather and i think cotto is supposed to fight ricardo mayorga for some unknown reason. So basicaly after they each fight 2 more times each there is a good chance they could end up fighting one another after that. Maybe sooner if the mayweather rematch falls through. I agree the fight is overdue and would be a great fight.
