Ok so I have these 2 processes, both IEXPLORE.EXE, and one is using 100,000 K of memory, now from what I can gather the process is just internet explorer... but I don't use internet explorer at all.... could someone maybe help me figure out why it's doing this? And how I can fix it.

  1. if u have google desktop, aol desktop, or anything else like that, it could be using IE to get online...just a thought

  2. Select end process.  Are they always running or is it just this once?  What is the actual problem.  Is it slowing down your machine?

  3. try to stop this process. If it is a real internet explorer, your desktop will crash. If not, it might be a virus. So, reboot in safe mode and scan the system with an antivirus.

  4. Windows runs around internet explorer. Anytime you browse a folder or a harddrive, you are using internet explorer. Try restarting the computer, or get the newest updates for your windows.

  5. Well, you could just try killing it and see if it helps. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, and go to processes. Select it, then press end process. If it keeps coming back, some other program must be using it, probably Office.
