What's up with Iran?

Question

Lately Iran has been threatening U.S. interest.

Don't they know that they're picking a fight they couldn't possibly win. Don't they realize that if they block any oil from getting out of the Middle East the U.S. would bomb the c**p out of them untill they gave up. The U.S. wouldn't even send ground troops. It would just be complete bombardment of Iran.

i am sorry but iran has not hit us. they threatened israel which is not our 53rd state. they are not harming us if they did hit israel.

honestly the u.s is using an attack on israel as a way to hit iran. u think the gov't cares. they hate iran and need any small excuse to try to destroy them.

as for winning. i am not sure what the approach will be. but do not underestimate iran's troops and weapons.

Win? No. Black eye and humiliate? Yes.

Your bombardment theory is interesting, but do you think that the American people will tolerate attempted genocide?

Do you think that the American people have another fight in them? Do you think that that the American people can handle the idea of a third front? Wouldn't it make the Bush presidency a complete failure? Do you think that we could occupy Iran with acceptable casualties? Do you think that our allies would stand by us?

Prez-nit-wit Bush needs to proceed very carefully here. He is being lured into a fight that he shouldn't go into. He needs a carefully measured response.  

They don't have to win to beat the US and I bleed red, white & blue.

If America attacked Iran the price of oil would skyrocket but there would be little left of the Iranian military

Its Navy would be sunk

Its Air Force would be driven from the skies and its air bases obliterated within days

Its Command and Control facilities would be bombed by pre-targeted cruise missiles.

Every time Iran tried to launch a missile infrared satellites would pinpoint the launch site and destroy it.

Transportation would basically come to a halt as missiles and warplanes took out every major bridge and rail hub

Iran is surrounded on three sides by the US military-Afghanistan, Iraq and the Persian Gulf allowing super quick turn-around times for US air strikes

The Iranian Army and the Revolutionary Guards could try to launch a ground attack to the east or west but wouldn't get very far with its supply train devastated by air attacks.

Iran has put a lot of smoke in the air about its hundreds of speedboats filled with explosives roaming around and sinking American warships but it just won't happen. The American navy is prepared and most will be sunk miles from their intended targets and the few that get close to any American warship will be shredded by either the The Phalanx Close-In Weapon System or the Mark 75 close-in gun capable of 80 rounds per minute automatic.

First Iran hasn't threatened to attack Israel. It is Israel who has made it clear that they will attack Iran. The whispers coming out of White House suggest Israel might attack Iran before January.

Deputy prime minister of Israel(and former IDF chief) suggested they will attack Iran.

It is not easy as that. Iranians have capabilities matching Israel.

Why do you think US is taking a cautious approach. general Mullen(Chairman Joint Chief of Staff) said US can not afford to open up another front. Defense Secretary is taking a cautious approach as there are fears that it might lead to regional or worse world war.

Now for people c**p(fox) news zombies: Iran has made it clear that if US/Israel attacks Iran, Iran will attack US interests in the region, so troops in Iraq and maybe other countries will be attacked. OIL prices will sky rocket, especially when Iranians have threatened to block Strait of Hormuz.

If it leads to regional war other countries would join Iran and the wart would escalate. You're forgetting the cold war going on between Russia, China & US. So if Russians interests are harmed they will join Iran. They have already threatened US not to attack Iran.

Now cow boy, WAR COSTS MONEY! So far cost of Iraq war is over half a trillion, that is 500,000,000,000. If there aren't enough troops and the war escalates that means more troops would be required to defend the country. WHERE & HOW DO YOU THINK MORE TROOPS WILL BE DRAFTED. Do you know anything about Vietnam war!
