What's up with facebook restricting profile browsing lately?

I was browsing for people within my network but as soon as I get to the fifth page of browse profiles, facebook directs me to a web search page. What's going on?

** disclaimer: if you are going to answer my question with something like: "stop browsing " or "stop meeting people using the internet", etc, etc, you are wasting your time because you are not winning best answer"

That's really strange and I don't think Facebook is doing it.  You might want to check if you have a virus... have you been downloading anything lately?  Do you have a Windows computer that's not protected from viruses?  I haven't heard about this happening to anyone else.
