  1. Hi,

Budgies need 12-14 hours of sleep a day/night. If not your bird could become unhealthy and have aggressive problems.

Your budgies cage size should be 20"x12"x18" so he can fly around and get more exercise so she doesn't get crazy when let out of cage for you to hold.

Budgies need exercise DAILY. They need to stretch their wings and fly around. Budgies that live in small cages should be allowed out of the cage for some exercise. Before you let your budgie out, you must make certain the room is clear of hazards. You probably don't want your budgie to take an outdoor excursion, he may never come back, so make sure all doors, windows and other escape routes are closed. Make sure ceiling fans, or any other fans are turned off (I am sure you don't need an explanation why). Open flames, mirrors, transparent glass windows or doors, cats and dogs all can make your budgie a dead bird. You must also be wary of drinking glasses or any containers with liquid. You certainly don't way your budgie to drink something poisonous or take swimming lessons.

Keep loud noises down. Talk to it regularly. Loud noises will stress the bird a lot.

Don't run to the cage, or make loud noises when approaching the cage. This will make the bird scared.

Try giving the bird some sunflower seeds. Hold it out to him until he takes it. Parakeets can deshell the seed.

    Best Of Luck

  2. Well, he might have been slightly sick when you first got him, which can cause slowness/ laziness, and he might not have had the energy. but he is fine now. Or, if you have a mirror in the cage, take it out. it makes birds extremely violent. Just keep working with him/her. he'll stop. but don't give up on him.

  3. i did the have the same experience with my male parakeet the first day i think he was confused there were a lot of birds

in their cage and then derepently he goes to  a small empty box alone. when i got home i took him out he was observing everything really scared and was not worried about me. but the  second day he was very terrified he yelled when i got close to him but i had to read about parakeets so i could be trusted and let him know a like him an  i wouldn't do any harm to him.

be patient with him, or can u imagine a monster coming into ur room and gets u every time, it is stressful for them and can killed them self if u don't do things right, when u handle his food and water trays do it slowly and talk to him soft and do not yelled try to take him out and if he doesn't want to then leave him alone but keep trying and one day he Will understand that u r his friend and u love care about him.
