I just noticed that sound recorder in windows vista only records. How do you edit the sound files? Did they do away with the editing part?

  1. The old Sound Recorder had options for increasing and decreasing the volume of recordings, adding echo, reversing, and, of course, editing the file. The new one appears unable to open files for editing at all.

  2. Hi Steve,

Yes, Vista's sound "editor" is pretty poor next to the one in XP.

You need to get Audacity. It is a nifty sound editor and best of all it is free.
