What's up with that?

Question

Since Deenie's earlier question about the thumbs down, I've been watching some of the questions. I must say that I find it interesting that three of the questions I was watching suddenly had a thumbs down for ALL of the answers. I must also say that I find it interesting that there were no more answers added to the questions in that time. I don't think it's right for someone to be going through the questions and giving thumbs down without at least giving your own answer to explain your point of view. You know who you are. Come clean! Why do you do it????

Maybe they consider paranormal questions to be spurious, annoying, and not at all related to science or mathematics.

That's my guess, anyway.

Well, there's nothing in the rules against voting thumbs up/down for an answer without giving one yourself. I'm more concerned about the real violations going on. By the way, I've seen this a lot. In one brief sweep, all the skeptical answers will get a thumbs down. Or, all the pro-paranormal answers get a thumbs-down. It happens all the time.

I believe it is someone that is targeting the paranormal column specifically and giving a thumsdown on all questions because they are opposed to the whole idea and find it ultimately threatening that this group even exists.  So in their own way they feel they are righting a wrong by their little show of defiance.  I would pay no attention to the thumbs down.  These are probably the same people that if you refold and road map the wrong way they would twitch a bit and then pass out.  But that is just me.

Its not me!! but sometimes i place thumbs down on the people with the opposite answer.............. but it dosent affect the best answer..............right?

You know... I did click on some thumbs down...including mine since there were better answers than mine. There is how-ever some-one that goes around in several categories and gives thumbs down. I for one don't think it's anything close to cool to give a thumbs down to any reasonable answer....I will give a thumbs down to an answer telling someone where or how to use illegal drugs though. You don't know after all if a youngster has used mom or pops ID to log on. This question came up in alternative as well as science /math and para normal. So a lot of people can answer it. Does thumbs down affect the vote? Thumbs down to the chronic thumbs downer :(

Yea, that ticks me off, i think its because people are afraid they will not get the best answer i think its why they do it...well people, this section is for advice just like all of YAHOO answers is , I think people who try helping one another is best answer so those jealous people need to get a life and accept the fact that we all try giving our best advice i know there are some who don't recieve a good thumbs up but for people to constantly be giving thumbs down come on whats with you people *shakes head* people take time to come in here and give answers good post for a question my friend:) I hope they come clean! This thumbs down c**p needs to end

I think that's happening too. Seems like somebody just comes thru and thumbs down every other one..just for fun. They're called trolls. Didn't think we had them on here. I think we have a lot of people who peek in from the outside and don't participate..except to give thumbs down. I get them a lot of times on answers that I can't imagine why. So I guess they just don't like my new hairdo!! (or maybe they don't like blondes)

Thumbs down mean nothing.If you answer a question expect a reaction.File it under sticks and stones.There's a guy on here that thumbs down every one of my answers.Even one where I said I didn't like torturing animals.The fact is I appreciate a thumbs down from him more then a thumbs up from any one else.Think of it this way.You made your point.They just down like it.Maybe, they even know it's a good one.

They're supposed to kick ID's who randomly click, click, click, but YA really doesn't look out for it's members as well as it claims to do.  You're kind of on your own here, which is sad.

I wonder if there are a lot of people out that are visiting all the time and afraid to speak up. Maybe they see all the bashing and abuse going on and don't want to be exposed to that.  We could be missing out on some good ideas here.  I do believe that it has got a lot more civil then it used to be.  I think if someone just wants to visit and approve or disapprove of an answer that is there right.  I see nothing in the rules that says that it's not allowed.  I hope they will ask a question someday.
