What's up with the baby obsession?

Why is american society suddenly obsessed with babies? Celebrities having babies, etc. Also, what's up with the uber-sensitive parents trying to raise the PERFECT BEING? The last time I checked there were no perfect parents or perfect babies. Also, do you think the whole baby organic stuff is just another way for numerous companies to profit? Lots to think about, I know.

  1. i've been thinking about that a lot lately. i didn't know if it was b/c i'm just now getting to the age where i want children (23) or if there really is more hype about children. i didn't even think about children until recently, but it seems like everywhere i turn, it's babies! on tv, in magazines, among conversations. i totally agree with you

  2. Rant much?

  3. I think the baby craze is just the next big thing. First they had chihuahuas and yorkies on their hips and now babies. I DO have a yorkie, but they don't make me want to have tons of kids! haha

I don't know about the perfect being stuff. haha

I do feed my baby the organic food most of the time. Of course they are thinking profit. But it's a supply and demand thing. Organic is popular right now! And if we're eating organic, why not give it to our babies?

  4. I read somewhere that maybe 9/11 is what started the baby craze.

For me, I have always just loved children. I also know that my child isn't perfect but I try to do the best for him that I can. There really is a lot of pressure on Moms to be better.

I think organic is good but i'm still not going to spend the extra cash to get it.

  5. Eh...America is obsessed with Hollywood in everything so that is no surprise to me.  Yes, it is frustrating that some parents are trying to raise perfect kids, but I try to stay out of others' business.

Organic is a way to profit, and I don't buy it for my baby unless I find it cheap on clearance like anything else, but some people insist on it and where there's a demand, there will be a supply - basic economics.  I see a lot of it on clearance though, so maybe it's just a trend that will die out.  I don't know, and I don't care either way.
