What's up with the huge spike in procreation among humans at the dawn of civilization?

When you say 'dawn of civilization' do you mean when we started to settle down and domesticate crops etc?  If that's so then I don't think it's a spike in procreation, more of a lower infant mortality rate in addition to people being able to feed said children.

Food had become more plentiful and easier to obtain due to the Introduction of the idea of growing our own food, this made us less reliant on what nature provided. More food more children.
