What's up with the republican national convention?

Why do the news stations show that it's on right now but all I see is stuff about the hurricane?

What a freakin' surprise!!!!!  Natural disasters demand coverage and the RNC has the class not to try to overshadow the human drama involved. Instead of business as usual at the convention, they held a fund raiser for the victims of the hurricane. Bravo.

Don't be surprised tho if the news media decides it's more important to cover almost anything else if they can.

The only thing going on is business meetings.  All the pep-rally stuff has been canceled.  Bush and Cheney are monitoring the hurricane (as is Obama as well).  So there is nothing to put on TV.

Of course the TV reporters can still show all the Democrat demonstrators outside the convention.  They are turning over cars and throwing rocks at police.  They were hoping to get 50,000 demonstrators but only 2000 showed up.. They are still making a lot of noise.

They had nothing planned anyway so the storm helped them not look as bad. They had to beg people to come & offered buses for people to get them yet they couldn't even get 10,000 people. Many republicans refused to show up because of fights they have had with McNasty.

Probably media bias, who knows? From what I have read, I never depend on visual media for my news it is always biased, thousands of protesters are trashing St. Paul, the National guard have been called out to help with riot control. The protesters are not assisting their cause, just providing more fear data points for the Republicans to circle the wagons around.

The mainstream media does not want to give anymore coverage to the Repubs.  The dems failed to get a bounce from their convention and it scared them.  The republicans had to have part of their convention but have canceled much of it. Does not make sense to me.  Canceling the convention does not make New Orleans any safer or effect the weather but they did not want to look insensitive. They should have postponed it another 3 weeks. That would have really pissed the Dems off.

The hurricane is a national issue.

1.1 million people from Louisana have been evacuated.

Maybe you don't live near the danger.  Good for you.

But, don't belittle hurricanes along the Gulf.
